Auxiliary Gift Shop

Auxiliary Gift Shop 

The Auxiliary Volunteers manage the Hanover & District Hospital Gift Shop which serves the need of patients, staff and daily visitors. The Gift Shop is located on the main floor and features books, snacks, personal care items and beautiful gift items.

 

The gift shop is open limited hours, depending on the availability of volunteers, usually between the hours of 9:30am - 2:30 pm from Monday to Friday. 

 

Through the operations of the Gift Shop and other fundraising events, the Auxiliary supports the hospital with monetary donations that go toward a variet of equipment purchases.


Hospital Fit Trail

Hospital Fit TrailThe Fit Trail is a 1.5 km track located on the Southwest corner of the Hospital property. It is available to staff, patients, and the public as an exercise and walking area for those wishing to participate in a healthy activity. The trail along with its’ 10 fitness stations is fully accessible to strollers, wheel chairs and walkers. The fitness stations are designed for novice and advanced participants. Each station includes all required equipment and instructions. The Fit Trail was a staff initiative and is built and maintained by volunteers and donors. Pet Therapy Program

Patient petting pet therapy dogSt. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Volunteers and their certified dogs have become a familiar sight in many areas of the hospital. Handlers will ask patients if they would like a visit from the dog.

 

Spiritual Care

Hanover & District Hospital is committed to offering excellent Spiritual Care to support the needs of all patients, their families, hospital staff and volunteers. Spiritual Care Providers visit patients, family and staff at each of the hospitals in Grey and Bruce Counties.  In addition to Hanover & District Hospital, Spiritual Care Providers are available at the six hospitals of Grey Bruce Health Services, all four hospitals in the South Bruce Grey Health Centre Corporation, plus Chapman House Residential Hospice in Owen Sound.  Our Spiritual Care Providers are professional, multi-faith and compassionate members of your healthcare team.

 

Services for Patients/Family Members include; 

  • One on one visits and/or family support;
  • Prayer meditation, rituals or reflection;
  • Help to connect patients with their local community of faith;
  • Help for families identifying and processing grief and loss;
  • Facilitation or arrangement of prayers and other religious rituals;
  • Information, spiritual literature, Bibles and/or Sacred Text.

Patients and families can reach a Spiritual Care Provider by asking their nurse at any time. After hours, Hanover & District Hospital has a dedicated and caring group of On-Call Spiritual Care Providers who are available as needed.
