Dr. Robert Basilij, Family Physician
Dr. Robert (Bob) Basilij received his M.D. Certification from The University of Western Ontario and his College of Family Practice Certification from the University of Calgary.Bob made the move to Hanover in 1984 and has been practicing at the Hanover medical clinic with privileges at Hanover & District Hospital (HDH). Throughout his career, Bob has attained many academic positions, such as Chief of Staff (present); Preceptor for The University of Western Ontario, Family Medicine Residency Training Program; Chief of Emergency Medicine at HDH; and President of the medical staff at HDH. When he’s not working, Bob likes to spend time with his wife and three children.

Dr. Tim Heerema, Chief Of Emergency Medicine
Dr. Tim Heerema was born and raised in London, ON. He became increasingly interested in Family Medicine during his years at the University of Western Ontario where he received both his Medical Doctorate and College of Family Practice Certification.
Additional interests included Emergency Medicine topics, so Tim decided to pursue training in this field with a further year of residency training. Having moved to the Hanover area, Tim plans to divide his time between the ER and the Family Practice Clinic.
Outside of medicine, Tim enjoys spending time with his wife and son, and tries to fit in numerous hobbies including sports, music, and board games.

Dr. Bruce Edington
Dr. Bruce Edington grew up in Sudbury, Ontario. He graduated from The University of Western Ontario Medical School in 1981 and completed three years of residency. Bruce selected Hanover for his practice because of the opportunities it presented for his family, its proximity to all of his favourite activities and its congenial medical community. Bruce has been practicing medicine in Hanover for 13 years and enjoys the variety that small-town family practice provides. Along with his office practice, he also provides OB, Emergency and Anaesthesia care. Bruce loves his work and also his leisure activities. He enjoys playing violin, skiing, sailing, travelling and serving short-term medical missions. Bruce and his whole family enjoy long summer days on Manitoulin Island.

Dr. Neal Stretch
Dr. Neal Stretch obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Masters Degree from the University of Waterloo in 1974 and 1976, respectively. In 1982, he received his M.D. from the University of Toronto and completed his residency program at Queen’s University in 1985. Neal practiced medicine in Englehart, Ontario, and New Zealand before finally settling down in Hanover in 1992. Neal is currently affiliated with the University of Ottawa Medicine Residency Training Program and practices Obstetrics & Family Medicine in Hanover. His interests outside of work include spending time with his family, playing the saxophone, fly fishing and continuing to pursue his love of teaching and research in medicine.

Dr. Nick Abell
Dr. Nick Abell joined the Hanover medical team in November of 2007 after working in rural BC for the past 4 years. Dr. Abell currently divides his time between his family practice as well as in-patient and Emergency Room care. He was born and raised in a small rural farming community in Manitoba that boasted a population of only 500. Becoming a doctor was apparantly in his genes as his mother, father, brother, grandfather, and great uncle are all doctors. Nick attended the University of Manitoba Medical school. He finished his medical traininng with the Rural Manitoba Family Medicine program. Nick was an avid hockey player playing at the Junior A, Junior B and University levels before Medical School, and Senior Hockey after his graduation. Now Nick spends most of his free time with his wife Rozi and their 2 young sons.

Dr. Pamela Gold
After a childhood spent moving from province to province across Canada, Dr. Pamela Gold moved out to Vancouver to attend Medical School. Despite a love of the British Columbia lifestyle, she moved to London, Ontario, for her Residency. In early 2000, she met Dr. Randy Montag at St. Joseph’s Hospital and they were married the following September on the condition that Randy agreed to cohabitate with Pamela’s “killer” cat in exchange for her promise to settle in Ontario. They joined the Hanover Medical Associates in April 2005. They were especially attracted to the spacious modern clinic and friendly, helpful staff. Randy & Pamela have two sons, so Pamela divides her time between medical and domestic duties. Her interests include reading, travel and family fun.

Dr. Randy Montag
Growing up as a local farm-boy, Dr. Randy Montag graduated from Walkerton’s Sacred Heart High School in 1990. Fourteen years,three degrees, three universities, 27 moves and three cars later, he returned to his old stomping grounds. Randy obtained his Degree in Medicine from The University of Western Ontario and completed his Residency training in Family Medicine and Anaesthesia in Sudbury. He and his family, including wife Dr. Pamela Gold, came to the area in April, 2004, and after checking out several local communities, they both signed on in Hanover in April, 2005. Randy currently divides his time between work in Family Medicine, ER, Anaesthesia and Inpatient Care.
Away from work, he enjoys time with his wife and two sons as well as hiking, reading and playing computer games.

Dr. Rochelle Dworkin
Dr. Rochelle Dworkin arrived to Hanover in 1986 to complete a six-month locum with the intention to pursue a residency in Paediatrics.Instead, Rochelle fell in love with the excitement and diversity of rural medicine and decided to stay in Hanover and set up a family practice (she also fell in love with a tall, dark, & handsome high school teacher…but that’s another story!). Rochelle believes that rural medicine has given her the opportunity to use and maintain all of her acute care and obstetrical skills. Teaching medical students and family medical residents is another one of Rochelle’s passions. In her spare time, Rochelle enjoys skiing in the winter, sailing in the summer and is currently pursuing a Masters degree from The University of Western Ontario.

Dr. Susan Boron
Dr. Susan Boron has recently joined the staff of Hanover District Hospital. She graduated from U of T, and did a family practice residency in London and Toronto before starting practice in Hamilton Ontario. From there, she and her husband moved to Kincardine where they lived and worked until this March 2008. She served as site chief for the Kincardine site of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre for 7 years.
In 1998, she became a Fellow in the college of Family Physicians for her work in Palliative care and teaching of medical students. She remains actively involved in teaching medical students at all levels.
She is delighted to be joining the Hanover medical associates, and hopes to continue a full family practice including obstetrics and ER, with a special interest in the two ends of the life spectrum: delivering babies and palliative care.
Along with their dog, Sam and their cat Sacha, Dr. Boron and her husband Doug live in the country, near Elmwood. Both are keen outdoorsmen and photographers.

Dr. Robert Panabaker
Dr. Bob Panabaker was raised in Hamilton, Ontario, where he obtained a Mechanical Engineering degree at McMaster University in 1967. He graduated with a degree in Medicine from the University of Toronto in 1971, interning at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton before coming to Hanover in 1972. He and his wife, Inse, have raised three children who have all launched successful careers, thanks in part to the excellent educational and social environment in Hanover. After 35 years, Bob has retired from a full general medical practice while continuing to do Anesthesia and Nursing Home Care on a part-time basis in Hanover.
