Our Mission
We are a charitable organization that inspires our community to invest in our hospital.
Our Vision
We strive to be an innovative and motivational fundraising organization that supports our first class hospital.
We Value
We value the leadership, initiative and teamwork of our volunteers and donors who provide the energy and commitment necessary to meet the health care needs of our community.
About the Foundation
The Foundation was incorporated in 1989 as a registered charity, Registration # 12678 1442 RR0001, with a commitment to raise funds for the betterment of our Hospital. Successful projects in the past include: an ultrasound machine, newborn equipment, a Medical Model Day Hospital addition, emergency and ambulatory equipment, electronic beds, a nurse call system, three palliative care rooms, and operating room equipment.
The Hanover and District Hospital Foundation is an active organization that is comprised of a volunteer board of directors that is proud to have strong community support for many events throughout the year. Some of these events include: a Dinner and Dream Auction Gala, raffles, Canada Day Barbecue, Christmas Tree Ornament Campaign, and the CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon. The funds raised are used to provide more than just basic hospital and health care services in a rural community like ours.
Mammography Matters ~ Do it for You!
We need a Digital Mammography machine!
A new digital mammography machine will replace the current analog one, which uses film and x-ray cassettes. It will produce clearer images, provide shorter examination times, fewer callbacks, better image storage and better communication between medical sites -- improved benefits for the patient!
A new digital mammography machine will be a more effective way of screening for breast cancer and will be an important addition to the Hanover and District Hospital. As a small rural hospital it is essential to keep a high level of health care services at home to best serve you and your loved ones.
The Canadian Cancer Society has eye opening numbers:
- An estimated 23,200 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer each year and 5,300 will die from it
- An estimated 180 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 50 will die of it
- On average, 445 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer every week
- On average, 100 Canadian women will die of breast cancer every week
Your gift does make a difference so please be generous. Mammography matters! It matters to your mother, your grandmother, your wife, your sister, your daughter, and even you! The Garden of Fond Memories
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.
No words could be truer for anyone who has noticed the new Garden of Fond Memories being constructed in front of the hospital, in memory of Karen Roseborough. Karen was a credit to the nursing profession and the hospital from 1963 until she retired in 2001. Bill, her husband and best friend, has very generously donated the garden not only in her honour, but also as a tribute to doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff. There are many opportunities within the garden to make dedications to loved ones or just to have a place for reflection and meditation. Order forms and brochures can be downloaded from the right.
The official garden dedication ceremony took place on June 19, 2010. “I hope that when people are visiting at the hospital as patients or visitors, they can find some peace in this garden” – Bill Roseborough.
The Fit Trail
This beautiful 1.5 km trail is on the southwest corner of the hospital property. It has been a three year volunteer project and has been a great achievement for our hospital community. There are ten fitness stations along the walking trail where its visitors are invited to practice a new and different exercise. 1000 trees have been planted alongside the path and will significantly reduce the amount of grass that has to be cut. Please consider donating to the cause which will allow for the purchase of new vegetation for the trail.
